We already have enough qualified professional health care providers to meet the public need. I am tired of seeing this excuse for expanding functions out of the normal scope of care for medicine and dentistry. The need is not for more providers, but for more low income care opportunities. I feel that dental assistants are performing their roles to the maximum and expanding their duties would in essence make them low paid underqualified and undereducated and undertrained dental hygienists.
