I find that this is could be devastating to our profession. I’ve heard and do not doubt that there are some practices are engaging in questionable principles by allowing dental assistants to complete almost all aspects of a prophylaxis and exam while allowing hygienists to simply scale some surfaces. I know some of my patients that come into the WCC dental clinic, are unaware of the difference between DA's and RDH's. I make sure that I stress the differences in training and duties of an RDH. I’m concerned for my patients' oral health. Creating a DAII would seem disrespectful to the RDH's in my opinion. It’s almost like saying that we have gone through all of our training, just hand our job and duties over to somebody else.
