I would encourage any legislation that increases accountability and education for social workers.  I am gravely concerned at the amount of self-evaluation localities are allowed and can only hope that more clarity will improve the system.  I also feel strongly that experienced foster care providers and adoptive parents should have an independent method of providing feedback for both inexperienced and experienced social workers.  The idea that a change in how social workers are licensed will not have an impact on communities is naive yet consistent with the blindness I have seen in a system that is responsible for our most vulnerable citizens; as long as the supervision and evaluation is in-house, we will see no real improvement.
