Please consider removing nurse's last names from all name badges. After talking with several colleagues and having several personal issues myself, this has become a serious problem for nurses. Yes patients do have the right to report, however patients to do have the right to stalk and harass nurses and make nurses feel uncomfortable in a career that they are proud to serve in. Please make nursing safe!
Agree with this petition and also in favor of removing last name from ID badges.

Please remove nurses last name from their name badge. It's dangerous for them and their families!
For the safety of myself and my fellow nurses, please remove the regulation stating we have to display our last name on our badges. In this electronic age, it is so easy for patients, and visitors to find us and heaven forbid harm us or cause any type of trouble.
Please remove our last name from our badges!
One too many social media requests has left me with the decision to not wear my name tag. It's not a requirement at my job but that's besides the point. I strongly agree that for safety of everyone involved last names should be taken off of badges.
Nurses in every department are at risk of being stalked and harassed by patients. I do not feel safe with my last name displayed. Please consider removing that requirement.
I am 100% in favor of removing last names from our badges. We as nurses make patient safety our number one priority each time we work but I do feel very strongly that we should also protect ourselves. We live in the age of technology and it is very easy for people to be found and contacted. Please let nurses protect their privacy and well-being by approving the removal of last names from badges.
As a practicing nurse, it would make me feel much safer to only have my first name, first initial of my last name. In today's world, we need our privacy for safety.
I am in favor of removing the last name from our badges. There are times we have to deal with patients and/or family members that are angry. It is so easy to find us through social media. Please make it a little more difficult for patients and families to find us and remove our last name from our badges. Thank you.

Please remove our last name from our badges !

I am in favor of removing my last name from my badge. As someone who knows a nurse personally that has been stalked, I think it is a great idea to remove it
I favor the removal of last names from badges.
Please let us hide our last names, for our safety and the safety of our families.
In Favor of removing last names off of badges, I used to work in the ED where my last name was not listed but currently where I work my name is listed I feel more at risk as I have been approached by patients on social media and allot of patients will casually ask where I live, etc. I know most of the time they are being polite but you never know. We need to protect ourselves and our families and take away our last names as we never know what patients are thinking. Thank you.
Please help us feel save! We should NOT have to worry that when we leave work someone may have "googled" us and now has our information and risks our safety as well as our family. Unnecessary risk!
Favor, for the safety of ALL nurses.
I am in favor of this proposal for the safety of all nurses.
Please give consideration to upholding this petition and passing new guidelines that do not require a nurse's full last name to be provided on their identification badge. As we know in this day and age, healthcare workers are far too easily identified by patients who may have ulterior motive's other than that of a healthy patient/caregiver relationship. Personally I have had on more than one occasion, a patient or family member make a direct comment about the spelling of my unique last name and discuss the fact that it wouldn't be hard to locate me outside of work. As we are taught in nursing school, it is not just a patient in a psychiatric setting who may have mental health needs. Patients and families with mental health issues or a poor sense of appropriate boundaries can be found across the broad spectrum of care.
Nursing staff on medical/acute care units should be provided with the same safety standard as those in the emergency and mental health units!
I am a young nurse in the Pediatric Emergency Department and have had more than one father of patients locate me on Facebook. When asked on my unit if I could cover up my last name, apparently it was not allowed. I shouldn't feel uncomfortable when it comes to this while doing my job.
I am also in favor that we do not allow our picture and full name be blasted to the patients doors. This to me is a safety issue and a breach of privacy. Family members can look up and search us out on face book and this is very dangerous. Help me and my nurses to hold on to our privacy and safety. Thank you you listening to me and the voices of other concerned nurses.
I am IN FAVOR of removing the full last name from nurses' badges, for their protection.
I am in favor of removing last names from badges as I personally have felt my safety is compromised with my last name being displayed. Patients will leave and stalk or message you on social media. It's scary.
In favor of the requirement of RNs to display first & last name to be dropped & first name & last initial to be the new req.
As nurses we work hard to protect the privacy of our patients but our privacy is important as well. Mental health nurses are not required to display their full name, I believe we should all have this priveledge since mentally ill patients are found in all sectors of nursing. Mentally ill patients are commonplace on the Med Surg floor where I work. It is unethical for us to search patients on social media. The same should be true for us. So, it can be disturbing to go on a lunch break and check my phone for messages, only to find a patient has tried to "friend" me on Facebook. While we can not control the internet behavior of our patients we should be able to take steps to protect ourselves and our families by not displaying our last name.
