I have worked in the energy efficiency and solar industries for the past 4 years now, and have seen an overwhelming support of rooftop solar.  Not only does solar prevent greenhouse gases and polution, but it makes our community more resilient and saves money!  

Why should we pay to support large and expensive, new and/or outdated infrastructure when we can reduce the needs of those expensive projects by created energy at the source of demand.  Rather than energy having to travel hundreds of miles, with a loss due to the distance of travel, we should support rooftop solar by making the process, costs, and benefits more friendly to potential solar home and business owners.

Virginia needs to create a mandatory RPS in order to create a market for SRECs.  This will only help spur further growth in the rooftop solar industry.  Along with all of these great benefits comes jobs!  We all know that jobs help drive economic growth which will benefit not only the industry but the surrounding communities.
