I am a 5'4" independent hiker and camper.  The ability to lawfully carry a handgun would provide me with a higher sense of safety and much needed measure of security.  By allowing lawful carry, you can pro-actively regulate and track handgun owners.  By banning, you simply prevent responsible handgun owners from bringing their guns.  Those who are illegal carriers or owners will continue to do so regardless of your regulations.
