There is no good reason whatsoever why individuals already permitted to carry handguns almost everywhere else in the state should be prohibited from carrying them in state forests and parks.  These lands are not especially sensitive, and the lawful carrying of handguns on them presents no special dangers.  They are not, at the same time, safe havens from crime, and tend to be more remote from police protection than, say, county libraries, in which permit holders are already allowed to carry concealed handguns.  The law against carrying handguns in state forests and parks only serves to deter those least likely to use weapons unlawfully in the first place.  Please lift these restrictions.
