Having served two tours in Vietnam, lived in several countries in both Asia and Europe I have first hand knowledge of people being oppressed by their own governments and their rights being taken away. The initial appearance of this petition may seem innocent and appear to have little ill effect on our rights as citizens of a free country. Nothing could be farther from the truth. This only exemplifies the text book example of how people’s freedoms are totally taken away and a state run government is put into place. It’s not done all at once but done one small innocent appearing step at a time. When you compromise even one small segment of your freedom it’s only the beginning to the inevitable end of all our freedoms. With evidence brought fourth in recent months the fact is rather painfully clear that what we need in this country is not more government control but less government control. 58,700 of my brothers in arms died in Vietnam to protect “all” of our freedoms. That was too high of a price that was paid in blood to allow any of our freedoms be taken away regardless of how it is cloaked.

 

If you innocently and naively believe that by taking away guns will somehow magically remove the threat of danger to yourself, nothing could be farther from the truth. Anyone who’s at a cultural level in our society of using lethal violence to attain their basic needs surly has not and will not use legal means to be in position of a gun. Just because you have never used a gun to defend yourself or your country don’t feel that guns are not necessary. Just remember, the “only “reason you have the freedoms you have are because “someone else” has had the courage and love of this country to do it for you.
