Catheter placement by non-LVT.

Properly trained and experienced nurses who are not licensed/in a program SHOULD be able to place IV catheters.  With training and supervision there is no reason that a competent nurse should not be allowed to place IV catheters.  On the job training is just (if not more) valuable when it comes to treatments and procedures in a work setting.  While education is important a degree and license is not a guarantee of a good/capable technician.  Those of us who have worked in the industry for years are able to effectively give care as good as if not even better than those who may have a license but limited experience.
