Strongly Opposed

It's very disappointing that this is even under consideration.  Veterinary medicine is the only health care profession that I know of that allows non-medical degreed, unlicensed staff to "learn on the job" and carry out nursing duties.  In addition to veterinary education and licensing, LVTs are required by law to complete yearly continuing education credits. There are no such requirements or standards for unlicensed assistants.  There is no way of ensuring that proper training is occurring in private hospitals.  This is not in the best interest of the patients that are entrusted to our care.  Therefore, I am strongly opposed.
