Some years ago when my boys were younger I was in the Shenandoah National Park when I was being followed by two youths obviously up to no good and trying to catch up with us. They were trying to intercept us and cut us off. It was a very nerve racking experience and I had to push on at a ferocious pace to outrun them. I had a cell phone with me but of course no coverage whatsoever. Even if it had worked the response time would have made calling for help a waste of time.

I am a law abiding citizen and I do have a concealed carry permit. Recognizing the regulations of a State park my firearm was not with me otherwise the potential danger I was in could have been met and averted. Since that time I have not ventured into a State Park because the lack of cell coverage, limited capability by the authorities to respond and ridiculous ban of firearms does not make the risk worthwhile.
