Strongly Opposed

Strongly oppose this motion. Proper IV catheter placement requires more than just finding a vein.  There are several cautions and procedure protocols to be followed. Aseptic techniques should be followed and an understanding of anatomy Is essential. An unlicensed person is not required to have completed these classes as part of their education. Allowing an unlicensed person to place the catheter could prove problematic. If not properly prepered, secured and checked complications from injectable medications could occur. You do not see unlicensed personnel placing IV catheters in humans!
