Why does Virginia even bother to offer licensing if they are going to allow anyone off the street to act as a technician? We should be empowering our technicians, allow them to be the useful assets they were trained to be. This is exactly why we a short of technicians- hospitals are going to continue to hire off the street labor at minimum wage because they can. Why would anyone choose to spend the time and money to become a tech if they can do everything without a license? IVC placement should be restricted only to those who are licensed, that is the only way to guarantee that IVCs are being placed by properly trained and educated staff.
