The practice of dry needling by physical therapists has already proven to be potentially injurious to clients and is harmful to the reputation of acupuncture and its licensed practitioners. The insertion of acupuncture style needles by medical doctors and licensed acupuncturists has enjoyed a history of safety because of the extensive theoretical and clinical training required. No such training is offered or experienced by physical therapists.
