I support the petition to allow handguns in state forests

State forests are public lands, belonging to the people, and the people have the right to keep and bear arms. How then could the State Forester ever consider restricting the peoples rights while the people are on the PEOPLE'S LANDS? Ludicrous.

I support the constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms, anywhere at any time. I have taken the required actions to obtain a Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) and I carry everywhere it is permitted.Concealed and open carry are lawful in the Commonwealth of Virginia. There is no logical reason they should not be lawful on ANY public

I have the right to protect myself and my family and have been in circumstances where that protection was needed. I live in a rural area and it took the sheriff's department 30 minutes to reach when we had been fired upon. How much longer might it take if we were out in a state forest and had no telephone service to even call the police? I'll willingly accept responsibility to protect myself and my family - anywhere, any time.

Enact the petition immediately.

Thank you,

R.M. Nelting, Jr.
