I support the petition 100%. There is nothing to fear from law abiding gunowners out enjoying the forest the same as you. Carrying a gun isn't going to make them into psychopaths and more than carrying matches makes you turn into an arsonist.

But, those who live outside the law don't respect restrictions on carrying any more than they respect restrictions on theft of money, property or natural resources from the forest. The current restrictions only hurt the law abiding gun owner, not the bad people out to do harm. And when you are miles from the nearest paved road, who else is going to look after you? I would rather carry a gun for years and never need it than not carry one and need it. I wouldn't go into the woods more than a 100 yards without a lighter, a flashlight, bandaids, a knife and, yes, a firearm.
