Repeal House Bill 1228

I want to repeal or amend the amateur Boxing Law that went into effect October 1, 2015,or amend to exempt Virginia Amateur Boxing from that law. Make USA Boxing the Sanctioning Organization and Governing body for all Virginia Amateur Boxing. I also strongly oppose the House Bill 1228, of January 19, 2016. If this rule was in effect when Pete Whitaker ( Olympic Gold Medalist ) was boxing as a amateur, he would not have made it, Why? because he came from a back ground, that was not make of money, Every penny counted, Virginia was where he was from, and Virginian, born and raise when he won his gold. I strongly suggest that every Virginian say no to the house Bill 1228. Why, because it will literary and physically kill boxing in Virginia, and all the hopefully boxer will just give up boxing in Virginia. Virginia have had a lot of great Amateur boxer that was once rank in the top ten in the Country in Amateur boxing, some when on and boxed Pro, But things happen and then came obligations that ended their dreams of being a prize contender. But they still remember that Amateur pursuit of making it to the Olympic. Becoming a USA National Champ or a Golden Glove Champ, but the supreme goal, winning a Gold Medal ,What a Vision, what a Dream to Representing Virginia in Amateur boxing, This House Bill 1228 its a dream killer for all up and coming boxers in the Now and Present Virginia Amateur Boxing .Our Hampton Roads and Richmond was once a strong supporter of Amateur and Professional boxing. Boxing now is one of the most expensive sports now to compete in, Amateur boxing essentials (cheapest price) Head gear/$54.99, mouth piece/$10.00, hand wraps/$5.99, gloves/$29.00, protectors cup/$24.99, jump rope $ 12.99, boxing jersey, boxing trucks/$59.00, boxing shoe/$39.00 for competition, USA Amateur Boxing Membership yearly membership $63.00 and that did not even include the Monthly gym fee that start out at $25.00 a month or more, will are looking at over $300.00 for just the basic. Now you want a HIV test, tell me why, we would put this burden on an already over burden sport? Please not pass House Bill 1228 of January 19, 2016. I am Gail Jordan, Virginia #12 USA Amateur Registration Chairman of 15 years, Assistant Amateur Boxing Coach for 15 years and Professional Boxing 2nd for Team ILA.
