Re: my previous comments about my experience with an intern, I suppose I misunderstood the petition. Students working on my animals??? No way! It was bad enough that this teaching hospital doesn't find it necessary for interns to introduce themselves as interns (and like I said before, I'm never going back!), but no way would I let a student work on my pet.

I would not mind if a student watched my vet work on my pet, but that's it.

And if you haven't read my previous comment, the manager at the hospital where I lost my love, told me that in vet medicine, it's not like human medicine. An internship is not required (he was mad at ME!) He said students can graduate and immediately call themselves Dr. and practice as one. Would you go to a physician that did not go through an internship/residency? I wouldn't! And imagine all the places in the country that don't have teaching hospitals--omg!!! And VA Tech. wants to allow students to work on peoples' beloved pets? My situation was bad enough, and this guy graduated!

And, as I stated in my first comment, every teaching vet hospital I've been to has had a senior vet closely working with the intern--someone who at least graduated, and there was never a question by either the senior vet or the intern that that person was an intern.

Not at that place, and I was horrified to discover this. And my dog ended up dying, and after this intern lied on the exit paper work, which he only emailed to me 24 hours later at my work on Sunday, although they have both addresses. I was so distraught, I didn't notice he hadn't given me his notes. I sure got the bill though!
