Shackling pregnant women denies them the basic dignity of motherhood. It also endangers the health of mother and baby. There has been no record of harmful behavior on the part of mothers in labor, delivery, or post partum. Please limit shackling to situations in which it is necessary for the safety of the woman and of those around her.
