I support this petition. I am in favor of additional restrictions on commercial menhaden fisheries in the Virginia. As a marine biologist for a federal agency, I understand the negative impacts of this fishery to essential habitats and local and migratory species including protected species, and to other commercial and recreational species. This fishery unjustly robs the public of opportunities to utilize public trust resources that are culturally significant and significantly devalues other commercial, recreational, and cultural opportunities.
