I support this petition because the overharvesting of Menhaden in the Cheasapeake is harming the entire food chain that depends on this vital food source. All predatory species which depend on Menhaden have been seriously impacted. Additionally, the Osprey population in the southern bay has been impacted as well.
I support the recommendations of this petition. We need to remove reduction fishery from the Cheasapeake Bay. At present, the State of Virginia is the ONLY state in the U.S. that permits reduction fishery internal to the state's borders.
