I fully support this petition. As a homeowner in Reedville I have seen first hand the damage that is caused by the overexploitation of menhaden. We have had brood failures three years running on the osprey nest in front of our house. The fishing has declined year after year in the waters around us. The worst part and what most don't have to experience is the smell generated by the processing. Beautiful summer days can suddenly be unbearable because of the unescapable reek of what smells like rotting fish. Reedville might be a more economically vibrant place if that was not a random occurrence over the course of the summer.
