Frustrated Parents

As frustrated parents advocating for the best care for our child, we firmly believe both parents should have the option to act as the Employer of Record (EOR) and provide caregiving services. The current requirement of having a nonrelative EOR within 50 miles overlooks parents’ unique bond and dedication towards their children with disabilities. Allowing both parents to assume the role of EOR would ensure continuity of care, strengthen the parent-child relationship, and enable us to participate in our child's care journey actively.

We urge reconsidering the provision that restricts both parents from being the Employer of Record (EOR) for our child's caregiving. For families like ours, who are intimately familiar with our child's needs and have already invested ample time and effort in learning their care routines, it is disheartening to be excluded from taking on this vital role. Allowing both parents to act as the EOR would empower us to make informed decisions, tailor the care plan to our child's specific requirements, and foster a sense of stability and trust in the caregiving process.
