My name is Ardel Labitoria, LPN. I have been an LPN since 2008 in the state of New Jersey. I went to a very good 15-month LPN program where I had extensive clinicals in Medical-Surgical I & II, Pediatrics, Psychiatric, Geriatrics, and Obstetrics. I took my pre-requisites from my community college with the generic RN students. I am an Excelsior College RN student who is about to take the Clinical Performance in Nursing Examination (CPNE) in about a month. I am glad the state of New Jersey will allow me to take the NCLEX-RN after I graduate. I feel sorry for the other LPNs (and other health care licensed professionals who are eligible to attend Excelsior College) in your state who cannot attend a traditional program and want to upgrade to RN status in order to better themselves. What other options can you offer them? Please reconsider your previous decision and allow Excelsior College graduates to practice as an RN in your state.
