| Purpose of the meeting The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will host the second TMDL Community Engagement meeting for the Wolf Creek on Wednesday June 25, 2025 at 3:00pm. The meeting is open to the public and any member of the public may participate in the proceedings. Meeting participants will assist in development of a cleanup study, also known as TMDLs, to address benthic impairments for Wolf Creek in Washington, Virginia. This stream has been listed on Virginia’s § 303(d) list of impaired waters for failing to meet Virginia’s water quality standards due to an altered benthic macroinvertebrate community. A TMDL will be developed for sediment, which was identified as the probable contributor to the poor health of the stream segments. The meeting will discuss a series of preliminary sediment load allocation scenarios and discuss the process used to establish sediment loads.
