| Purpose of the meeting Second public meeting on a study to restore water quality. DEQ has been working to identify sources of bacteria contamination in the waters of Elk Creek. The “impaired” stream segments are estimated to be approximately 19.64 miles of Elk Creek, including the mainstem of Elk Creek from the confluence with New River upstream to the Comers Rock Branch confluence. The stream is impaired for failing to meet the Recreational Use because of fecal coliform bacteria violations. The public notice appears in the Virginia Register of Regulations on July 6, 2009. The public comment period begins on July 21, 2009 and ends on August 21, 2009. | |
