| Purpose of the meeting The purpose of the meeting is for the DMME to provide an overview of the coal mining industry safety performance October 2008 through June 2009. Also, the status report on Virginia miner substance abuse will be presented and discussed along with any proposed changes to current substance abuse standards imposed by the Coal Mine Safety Laws of Virginia. The meeting is open to the public. No public comment has been requested; however, the Board will receive comments from interested parties related to the work of the Board within a 15 minute public comment period at the end of the meeting. Location is accessible to the handicapped.Special accommodations for the disabled will be made available at the public meeting on request. Anyone needing special accommodations should contact the Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy at least seven days prior to the meeting or hearing date. | |
