| Purpose of the meeting PURPOSE OF PUBLIC MEETING: A public meeting and public comment opportunity to discuss technical issues related to permit applications submitted by Synagro Central, Agri-Services Corp. and Recyc Systems Inc. to apply treated biosolids in Fauquier County, VA. “Biosolids” is a term that refers to solid, semisolid, or liquid materials removed from municipal sewage and treated to be suitable for recycling as fertilizer. PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: June 16, 2009 through July 15, 2009 PROPOSED PERMIT NAME: Virginia Pollution Abatement Permit issued by DEQ under the authority of the State Water Control Board. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Synagro, Agri-Services Corp. and Recyc Systems Inc. have applied for the issuance of permits for the land application of biosolids at standard agronomic rates to agricultural fields in Fauquier County, Virginia. Synagro is applying for a permit to authorize the storage and land application of biosolids to 223 fields, totaling 6633.3 acres of agricultural land. Agri-Services Corp. is applying for a permit to authorize land application of biosolids to 21 fields, totaling 622.8 acres of agricultural land. Recyc Systems Inc. is applying for a permit to authorize land application of biosolids to 325 fields, totaling 4463.5 acres of agricultural land. HOW TO COMMENT: DEQ accepts written comments by e-mail, fax or postal mail. All comments must be in writing and be received by DEQ during the comment period of June 16, 2009 through July 15, 2009. Written comments must include: 1) The names, mailing addresses and telephone numbers of the person commenting and of all people represented by the citizen; and 2) A brief, informal statement on how the proposal affects the person commenting. DEQ will also accept written and oral comments at the public meeting. The public may review the permit application at the public meeting and at the DEQ office named below. | |
