AASCB Strongly Supports

The American Association of State Counseling Boards (AASCB) expresses strong support for Virginia's proposed licensure by endorsement rule change. AASCB is an organization that represents counseling state licensure boards from across the country and supports uniformity in counseling regulation for education, experience, and examination. AASCB's executive leadership council has, combined, more than 35 years of regulatory experience. Our primary focus as an organization is to help support and facilitate effective state regulation of counseling. NCLEP represents common sense regulation for the licensure endorsement process. NCLEP provides a clear and achievable pathway for licensed counselors to enter the state and begin practice while also ensuring that Virginia citizens are served by quality providers.  AASCB supports the authority of the Virginia Board to ensure the safety, health, and welfare of the public and to address the needs within the state. NCLEP is an efficient process for licensure by endorsement and creates a process for boards to build trust across state lines as they regulate counseling practice.
