The NCLEP has been proposed jointly by National Board of Certified Counselors, the American Association of State Counseling Boards, the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, and the American Mental Health Counselors Association, is a portability process to promote uniform licensure endorsement standards across the states. The NCLEP balances the need for public protection and uniform training and education standards.
As a Licensed Profesionall Counselor-Supervisor in Texas and Louisiana, and as a Counselor Educator at ULM, I support these strong standards that protect the welfare of our clients. CACREP accreditation, experience as a counselor, and National Counseling examples ensure knowledge and skills our counselors need.
