I have been a practicing LVT for about 6 years and I think that the regulation should be changed to allow trained unlicensed assistants to place IV catheters.  Assistants can be trained to perform this duty and will do it under the supervision of a veterinarian.  It will ultimately allow for LVTs to focus our time on more critical care cases and other LVT sanctioned duties.
