I support the placement of IV catheters by unlicensed technical staff under the supervision of a veterinarian.  Currently there is a shortage of LVTs in the common wealth.  There are roughly 4000 licensed vets and only roughly 900 LVTs.  This shortage makes compliance with this regulation almost impossible for many practices in Virginia, especially in more rural areas.
