Type For years, because there are not enough LVTs, veterinarians have had to rely on non-licensed assistants to place catheters.  Before I went to veterinary school, I was an assistant and I was able to place catheters as long as I had a supervisor present.  We only had one LVT at our three doctor clinic and the rest of us were all assistants. We were trained to do most of what LVTs were able to do simply because there were not enough LVTs in the area. I believe that regardless of who places the catheter, the patient care still lies in the responsibility of the veterinarian of record.over this text and enter your comments here.
