I oppose the current position that is proposing only liscensed technicians can perform monitoring for anesthesia, performing dental prophylaxis, ect. My clinic has very strong veterinary assistants who have been monitoring anesthesia and performing cleanings for over 20 years as well as many other assistants in our practice who have the experience or more than some technicians out there. We are always creating a supportive team environment to teach new people and as a veterinarian in a practice with limited registered techs we would not be able to practice or function without the skills of our assistants. We cannnot afford to send our assistants through school and cannot afford to hire the techs to replace them that would be less experienced.
