Approve the Lawful Carry of Handguns on State Forest Lands

I fully support the Petition for Rulemaking to allow the Lawful Carry of Handguns on State Forest Lands.

A citizen exercising one's rights under the Constitution of Virginia, and the Constitution of the Untied States, shall not be infringed when entering State Forest Lands. By definition, "State" Lands are public lands purchased for the sole intent of use by law abiding citizens of the Great State of Virginia. It is counter intuitive for rights protected under two Constitutional documents to be suspended when enjoying public lands.

The right to self protection is even more critical when located in remote settings such as State Forests. Poor communication in remote areas, the protracted response time of law enforcement agencies in these areas, and the difficulty in locating a person in distress in a remote forested area, make protecting one’s family an individual responsibility.

Support the Petition.
