No do not support this

This is not a good idea. An unlicensed person should never place an IVC period. Anyone can be considered an assistant with no knowledge of veterinary medicine. They need to be licensed in order to have good veterinary care and it is an invasive procedure that needs knowledge and training. Also I didn't work hard in tech school to become licensed to get my job taken by an assistant who probably can become paid less to take my job (but won't be as good). The knowledge of an lvt is very important and people need education before performing any invasive procedure on a pet. It's a slippery slope to have all the technical duties to be given to assistants and soon there will be no room for techs. It already makes me irate when an unlicensed assistant is called a tech. There are many "techs" that come from states that don't require them to be licensed and I have noticed a lack of knowledge in a lot of areas. Licensed technicians need more respect in this field and I guarantee most of the people that will declined this are from licensed vet techs. Please, please, please don't enforce this!!!!!!! I can't even believe this is up for discussion.
