In the 13 years I have been an investigator in the Commonwealth, I have had many instances where I have had to evaluate the risk to a client vs. the mandate of Virginia, in regard to carry laws it is frankly mind-boggling. I cannot, in good conscience and contractual obligations take time to disarm every time I escort a client into a "gun free zone". There is no need to regulate the logistical imperatives involving any carry, of a weapon, by a lawful person, who is in compliance with code. In plain English: it is petitions like this that free citizens from government intrusion and excess enforcement. It is ridiculous policy to effectively "incriminate" any citizen by geographical intrusion into a "no gun zone". That concept is baseless and manipulative in essence and certainly in practice. If a person is deemed competent to carry, stop infringing on that privilege and stop creating criminals! Please pass this petition and do the right thing.
