Oppose-Well Intentioned Misguided Overreach
This is overreach at a profoundly disturbing level. The gender confusion issue has become a runaway fad that schools should not be endorsing, which is what you are proposing. This policy is opening the door to endorsing such confusion. It needs to stay a private matter. In about 10 years, the wave of mental health issues is going to start. Where a student might once have had normal confusion and curiosity during development, we're now labeling it as a gender identity disorder... a label that they can't just walk away from. This is not the job of the VDOE. This is a private matter. I oppose bullying and I oppose getting on a bandwagon for the flavor of the month social agenda topic, as well. Both are wrong. You're giving young people, who are at the most unstable times in their lives and, frankly, in history, too much power and not enough stability. I believe it is shameful that you would allow the whim of a young person to dictate the firing of a teacher, when teachers have been working their hearts out, this year. Any young person who has the whim to follow a fad and declare themselves a different gender can use that to seek control in any situation with an authority figure. Do not establish that. Additionally, CPS needs to be reserved for genuine cases of child abuse. Do not encourage the destruction of families. There are not enough social workers or foster homes and a misguided teacher could cause more harm than good by supporting such a reckless policy. Schools have enough problems. So do teachers, parents, and students. Stop trying to appease the social flavor of the month crowd. This is irresponsible. Establish a separate bathroom and leave it at that. This is none of the VDOE's business. A few years ago, the trend was that we were all completely colorblind. Now, that's no longer appropriate. Now, we notice all differences. In 5 years, this gender confusion trend will be wrong. Don't jump into it. Leave it alone. Stay in your own lane.
