As a young woman who grew up in the Virginia public education system, I cannot express greater outrage at such a policy intended to infringe on biological female-only spaces (in particular, bathrooms and locker rooms). Not only does this display ignorance on the science concerning immutable biological sex, it subverts the will of the majority in deference to the issues of the few. There are intelligent ways to honor the dignity of transgender students AND protect girls—this measure is not one of them. I fiercely oppose this policy that has proven to endanger and violate girls/young women in every single instance that it has been enacted.
