Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

Strongly oppose insane bill

I strongly oppose this guidance which removes the rights of parents from raising their children as they see fit, usurps their authority, and gives it to special interests that have no business meddling with the lives of their children. Schools should not be indoctrination centers.  Freedom of speech to express one child's identity should not take away freedom of speech for another to reject the idea that sex and gender aren't biological constructs that have been normally followed since the beginning of mankind.  To drastically change those norms without sufficient evidence of harm to society as a whole is a radical idea and one that can negatively impact the mental health of children for generations to come.  Instead of making everyone else confirm to gender dysphoria, you should focus more on affirming to every child that they are loved in their own body and not to be ashamed of how GOD created them.   For children who are confused about their gender, you should get them psychological help that will help them cope with and overcome gender dysphoria, not affirm their mental illness.  Considering the suicide rate for transgenders is much higher than the normal population, you might want to think twice about further promoting such a lifestyle.  You cannot change a person's dna no matter how hard you try so these children will grow up constantly feeling inadequate.  If you stop promoting transgenderism, most of them will eventually revert back to their biological sex.  The rest of society doesn't have to go along for the ride while they figure themselves out.  And you certainly do not have the Constitutional authority to infringe on the rights of others to sit out the transgender bandwagon without being persecuted for their lack of conformity.  Transgenders should have equal rights, not special rights.
