With respect and great empathy, I am confident that VA DOE can mediate the voices on both sides of this situation and find a solution which serves all. I do not believe this current model policy is it. VA DOE needs ownership from all sides to be successful and from the comments they have alienated many families with this policy. The net effect of this policy is that it could be undone with the new state administration resulting from upcoming elections. Further, those that can will pull their students from public school, creating a large layoff of school personnel which further hurts the community, the education of our children and ultimately our society.
These are already trying times. Let's work together to create a lasting model policy that serves all. This is the only true way forward.
