I believe it to be imperative that we begin looking at the overwhelming amount of statistical data that backs this proposition. All too often, unfortunately, people tend to disregard anything that they are less than informed on. To make a decision that is best for every child is to first make a decision that gives every child a fair shot. In looking at the suicide rates among students most effected by this proposal, you will see that there are a staggering amount of cases. In comparing this to the statistical likelihood of the opinions that serve as fear tactics, you will see the actual truth. One is more likely to take their own life than to pose a threat to another student. I can't say for a fact that this has never happened. I can say for certain that excluding this group of individuals is much more detrimental than the "What-if" scenarios that I have seen. To continue to allow trans youth to fall to the wayside is no longer an option. Just because people don't agree with them doesn't make them disposable. It would be an absolute disservice to any student seeking support for these matters to allow school sanctioned bullying from children and parents alike to go any farther. These children may come to school everyday scared and hopeless, you have the power to change this. If we as a community continue to push for these students to be demonized then we will raise yet another generation that will continue this hate filled rhetoric. It is important to me that you read the comments from people in the psychiatric feild. Read the comments from scholars who know undoubtedly the damage that can be caused by allowing someone's opinion of things such as gender identity to become normal practice. This isn't a difference of opinion, this is right and wrong. This isn't endangering students, this is helping students long forgotten to flourish without becoming a statistic.
