I support this bill as a former student of VBCPS, future clinical mental health counselor, and advocate for TGNC individuals. School is meant to be a safe and supportive environment to foster the growth, individuation, and education of all students. It is our responsibility and duty to prevent and heal past, current, and future gender-based traumatization. TGNC students pose no threat to other students by being given access to their human rights and are only harmed by the discriminatory policies that prevent basic interaction, integration, and self development. TGNC students can and do thrive when given an environment which supports and protects them just as their cisgender peers are given.
I truly hope these policies will be given the overwhelming support they deserve, and transgender and gender nonconforming youth will have their identities nurtured and rights protected with a safe, inclusive learning and social environment.
