Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

if you don't support this you're a loser!! Protect and support trans kids!!!

This policy is so so so important for transgender kids. Trans rights are humans rights and trans kids deserve to feel safe expressing their gender identity in their environment.

Why would you not care about trans kids? They are people too, are they not? Open your eyes and open your minds. To those that oppose, stop being bitter and being obsessive over children (who has no connection and nothing to do with you) and who they are. It's their lives. Not yours. Plus, you look odd caring so much about the business of youth. Are your own lives that boring that you feel the need to insert yourselves? Go and move out to a different state if this bugs you so much. Transphobes aren't welcome here anyways.

It is also backed up by psychology that kids are able to understand their gender identity from a young age :)
