As a public school educator in Virginia's school system, I have seen LGBTQ students get harassed and bullied for being themselves, for being different than the majority. These children need to be protected and kept safe. Self-expression and gaining an understanding of oneself as a person can become hindered if bullying and harassment are present. Trans students are more likely to be harassed, bullied, and even harmed physically by their peers just for being who they are. This lack of support has been proven to cause lasting emotional harm and increase the likelihood of suicide.
There is scientific evidence that proves that children know what gender they are as early as three years old. For those who don't understand gender, and think in some way that this is an agenda, I say to you: WHO WOULD ASK FOR THIS? It's dangerous. It's painful, both physically and emotionally. If anyone had a choice about who they are, they would not choose to be different. This is not a choice. This not a lifestyle. This is not an agenda. Support trans children. Be kind. Be gentle. Love one another. I think you may know of a book that tells you the same.
