The intent to establish the school environment as safe and conducive to the study of knowledge is noble. However, the pervasiveness of the separation of gender from biological sex in learning areas and environments outlined in the guidance document will be detrimental to the learning environment. This will further encourage the growing division between families with the financial means to send their kids to private school and those who rely solely on public education. Already the effect of this division in socioeconomic class is apparent when considering the in-person learning environment offered by private schools during the pandemic versus the virtual learning environment offered by public schools. There is a real brain drain in the potential creativity and talent of future Virginian youth in the public education system. Those "left behind" in public schools are unfairly disadvantaged.
