I strongly oppose the VDOE's approval of the draft policies for the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These policies undercut parents' involvement in the life of their own children at school, and endanger the bodily privacy and safety of all students. These policies articulate views that are so far removed from the views of most parents in the Commonwealth of Virginia (and the country), and would only serve to create more confusion in the minds of our children who are constantly bombarded by outside forces seeking to divide the family. Furthermore, no child should be forced to share showers, locker rooms, hotel rooms or any other intimate settings with a member of the opposite biological sex.
