Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

DISGRACEFUL....LET PARENTS RAISE THEIR KIDS

How about you focus on educating our children -- math, reading, writing, and science.  Why does the state feel it has the right to create an environment that encourages kids to explore, facilitate and make decisions regarding their gender expression of sexual identity while at school?  AND without a parent even knowing?  I don't understand how anyone thinks this is acceptable.  Instead of spending time on what 'pronoun' to be called, let's figure out how to make sure our kids aren't falling behind with all this virtual learning.

In fact, theses policies are discriminatory and is child abuse.  It defies biological facts about the sexes and leaves children confused and unprotected...they are being encouraged to be confused.  This is a violation of my family's freedom of religion, it is indoctrinating my kids with ideas contrary to our religious beliefs.  If a child is experiencing sexual dysphoria, how about you show them love, grace and understanding, and inform the parents.  This policy further divides and segregates these young kids from their peers.  LET PARENTS RAISE their kids.
