This is a fantastic first step. I am disappointed seeing some of the other comments on this forum that have so much bigotry and vitriol. Kids need to be respected, as we are not raising children but little adults. The behavior they learn in school carries into their adult lives, just as much as anything they learn at home. If they learn to respect trans and other LGBTQ members of their school community through these policies and normalize that respect, they will carry it into their lives hopefully and the world will have fewer of these vile people that are being so hateful. My younger brother is trans and deserves just as much respect and fair treatment as anyone else as a human being. Anyone saying otherwise is being hateful and is not based in science. Them using the bathroom is no more a concern than anyone else using that bathroom, the “bodily and religious concerns of others” are not effected. Someone else being trans being against your religion is not their problem. They have a right to practice their own beliefs, if you will, and being their true selves is part of it. The real infringement of rights is happening to the trans students, and they deserve to have their rights protected. This is vitally important, please PASS THIS.
