Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

Save our schools

I don't think schools should be permitted to help a student explore, facilitate and make decisions regarding their gender expression of sexual identity while at school, without a parent even knowing!

The definition of “Gender identity” is completely subjective to each person claiming it, hence it cannot possibly be known by anyone except that person. Since it cannot be tested or ascertained by any objective method, nothing could prevent any student from constantly “changing” their “gender identity” to exploit many situations. My concern would be if I had a daughter and they were allowing boys in the the locker room and bathrooms of the school. You never know some kids who are not transgender will pretend to be to just get a look at a female.

Parents who encourage their children to embrace their God-given sex would be at risk of being reported for child abuse or neglect by the school. Schools would be prohibited from notifying parents if a biological male is using the same changing facility as their daughter that was designated for girls.
What is happening to my rights as a parent?  This is insane.  You wonder why public school enrollments are going down, this is why!

here are so many chances for teachers, schools, and DOE being sued by the students, parents, or other family members by this vaguely worded "treatment of transgender students.". This policy would also violate the first amendment if a tea
